Lord Neil Mendoza CBE

Lord Mendoza CBE is Provost of Oriel College at the University of Oxford. He is Chairman of Historic England. He is a member of the UK Soft Power Council and co-chairs its Europe group. Lord Mendoza worked at DCMS for eight years as a NED and the government’s Commissioner for Culture. He chairs the Culture and Heritage Capital Board at DCMS. He is Chair of charities, Illuminated River and Civic Future. He is a member of the House of Lords. Prior to joining Oriel College, led the Mendoza Review of Museums in England for DCMS (2016-17). Formerly Chair of the royal charity, Children and the Arts, Vice Chair of Soho Theatre, and Chair of The Landmark Trust (2011-2021). Joined the Board of MeiraGTx, a US-based gene therapy company, in 2015. He co-founded Forward Publishing in the late 1980s, now a part of WPP plc.

Sir Vernon Ellis worked for 41 years at Accenture, becoming head of EMEAI and then International Chairman. He left in 2010 to become Chair of the British Council. He was also on the board of FTI Consulting for 12 years. In the arts, he has chaired English National Opera, National Opera Studio, the Leeds International Piano Competition and Britten Pears Arts. He currently chairs Live Music Now. A particular interest is how to increase philanthropy and bring new capital to the arts. He founded and led New Philanthropy for Arts and Culture which merged with Arts and Culture Finance to form Figurative, of which he is a Trustee. In 2001 he established the Vernon Ellis Foundation where the focus is on the social impact of the arts. Also, through his Foundation, he hosted around 80–90 concerts a year between 2005 and 2017 at his London home in support of musicians' and music organisations' development.

Dominique Alba is an accomplished architect with over four decades of experience spanning both private practice and public service in Paris and Greater Paris. She began her career at the renowned Jean Nouvel & Gilbert Lezenes agency, later contributing to rural development programs across Africa and Latin America. Her early commitment to sustainable development also included collaborations with the École des Mines de Paris. From 1986, she co-led architectural projects in France with Philippe Roux, while simultaneously teaching at leading engineering and architecture schools. In the early 2000s, Dominique transitioned into public service with the Mairie de Paris, where she led architecture and urban renewal efforts. In 2003, she was appointed General Manager of the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, the center for urban planning and architecture in Paris. She went on to serve as Deputy Director and later Director of the Atelier Parisien d’Urbanisme (APUR), overseeing major urban planning projects that shaped the future of the metropolitan region. Dominique Alba currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Ateliers Jean Nouvel, returning to her roots in architectural innovation at one of the world’s most celebrated design firms.

Dr. Colin B. Bailey has served as the Director of the Morgan Library & Museum since 2015. A scholar of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French art, he is a specialist of Pierre-Auguste Renoir and has been responsible for many publications and exhibitions. He was made an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2010, and in 2020 was awarded the Prix du Rayonnement de la langue et de la littérature françaises by the Académie française. Among the many initiatives Bailey has spearheaded are the celebration of the Morgan’s centennial, the exterior restoration of J. Pierpont Morgan’s Library, and the inauguration of the Belle da Costa Greene Curatorial Fellowships, created for promising scholars from historically underrepresented communities in the curatorial and special collections fields.

In February 2025 Guillaume Cerutti was appointed President of the Pinault Collection while continuing to serve as Christie’s Chairman of the Board, taking on a broader range of responsibilities. Guillaume, was CEO of Christie's from December 2016 to February 2025. Under his tenure as CEO at Christie’s, the company supported 70 categories of business with a global presence across 45 physical locations. During his leadership, Christie’s was entrusted with the sales of major Collections (Rockefeller in 2018, Ebsworth in 2019, Cox in 2021, Bass, Getty and Allen in 2022, Rothschild in 2023 and Barbier-Mueller in 2024). It also established the records for a work of art sold at live auction (Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi) and online auction (Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5,000 Days) and also made significant strategic advancements. He has been active in the artworld for more than 20 years, working closely with collectors across the globe. He first held positions in non-commercial organisations, as Managing Director for the Pompidou Centre and then as Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Culture in France. His previous background was focused on economics and finance. Mr. Cerutti also served for three years as the head of the French national competition agency, and is the author of numerous articles, reports and a book on cultural policies.

Valéry Freland is the Executive Director of the Geneva-based ALIPH Foundation. In this capacity, he created the ALIPH Secretariat in 2018 and has since managed this new organization and contributed to the definition and implementation of its strategy for heritage protection in conflict and post-conflict areas. In seven years, ALIPH has supported 550 projects in 54 countries. Valéry Freland is a career diplomat of French nationality. In the past, he has held various positions at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, notably in the field of cultural diplomacy, including as Culture and Audiovisual Advisor at the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union in Brussels (2007–2009). He was also Diplomatic Advisor to the French Minister of Culture and Communication, Frédéric Mitterrand (2009–2010). Prior to joining ALIPH, Valéry Freland was Consul General of France in Boston (2015–2018). He is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the École Nationale d'Administration (“Senghor” class), and holds a master’s degree in law (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He is an Officer of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Prior to Arte Collectum, he founded the investment advising firm Kapitalinvest, worked at two investment firms in Sweden with overall responsibility for providing and selling various investment products to distributors and as an Agent at New York Life Insurance Company in the U.S. Before his career in finance, he was a NCAA Division 1 tennis scholarship athlete at University of Texas at San Antonio where he graduated with a BBA in Management with an International Business Concentration. Charles Stewart has served as Chief Executive Officer of Sotheby’s since October 2019. Under his leadership, Sotheby’s is expanding access and ownership of exceptional art and luxury objects through its global marketplace. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Mr. Stewart served as Co-President and Chief Financial Officer of Altice USA, which he helped establish as a leading telecommunications provider. In 2017, he helped deliver the company’s successful $2.1 billion initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Stewart joined Altice USA after two decades of investment banking experience spanning the U.S., Latin America and Europe. Dr. Moumni is an art and archaeology historian, specialising in antiquity as well as early and modern and contemporary Arab Art. He holds a PhD in North African Roman Architecture from La Sorbonne University and was previously a fellow at the French Academy in Rome, Villa Medici. From 2019 to 2021, he was an Aga Khan Fellow at Harvard University’s Department of Art History, where he conducted research on the cultural history and artistic exchanges of the Maghreb region. In 2021, Dr Moumni joined Christie’s as a Senior Client Advisor focused on the Middle East before taking on his current role as Chairman for the Middle East and Africa. As a consultant with McKinsey & Company’s Social Sector Office, Laura led work on social innovation, sustainable capitalism, and social impact assessment. She previously served as senior adviser at the United Nations Development Programme; executive director of the Prospect Hill Foundation; and associate director at the Rockefeller Foundation where, in addition to her responsibilities managing the endowment, she co-led the Foundation’s first impact investing efforts which included two investments in the creative economy: Smithsonian Folkways Records and netomat. Laura is a board member and past chair for GlobalGiving Foundation, and recently completed her service as a board member of Upriver Studios, a public benefit LLC; and a member of the Global Creative Economy Council, supported by the British Council. Alfaddagh graduated with a degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 2006. In 2009 she graduated with an MA in Global Studies from the same institution. In 2010 she began work as a curator at King AbdulAziz Center for World Culture. In May 2017 she was promoted to the role of Head of Museum and Exhibits there. She supported the development of Saudi Arabia's first children's museum, as well as co-founding the Ithra Art Prize. The prize is a partnership with Saudi Aramco. In 2018 she worked on the display of a 250 year old room which had been removed from a house in Damascus in 1978. It had been held in storage, until being shown at the museum for the first time. In January 2021, Alfaddagh was appointed director of the National Museum of Saudi Arabia.

Her numerous publications include a dozen peer-reviewed articles in leading journals on some of her notable archaeological and theoratical contributions. He is a poet and writer with 18 published books, which have been translated into more than 11 languages. Hatem is the recipient of two international poetry awards from Spain and Sweden, and he has presented poetry evenings in Spain, Italy, Germany, China, South Africa, Sweden, and Egypt. He serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the English Literature Program at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, and was a judge for both the Riyadh International Book Fair Award (2022) and the Schools Slam Competition at the African Poetry Festival (2024). Hatem is currently pursuing graduate studies in mass communication.

Joselit is author of Infinite Regress: Marcel Duchamp 1910-1941 (MIT, 1998), American Art Since 1945 (Thames and Hudson, 2003), Feedback: Television Against Democracy (MIT, 2007), and After Art (Princeton University Press, 2012). Having worked between Germany and France in the fields of culture and industry, he secured a scholarship to study at the École Nationale d’Administration in Strasbourg and transitioned to the public financing of films. He subsequently worked in a number of consultancy roles with the German government, including the Federal Ministry for Culture and Media, the Federal Chancellery Europe Department and the Federal Foreign Office. Between 2009 and 2013, Mr. Görgen served in senior roles in the energy sector with Siemens South West Europe before returning to the Federal Foreign Office, where he was head of department for culture and communication for seven years.

Farsi is a Board member of the Museums Commission in Saudi Arabia and also sits on multiple panels and committees for entities such as The Royal Commission for Al-Ula and The Diriyah Biennale Foundation as well as actively contributing to other local and international art related initiatives. With a close eye on the Middle Eastern art scene and a focus on Saudi, Farsi uses her expertise to add on to the development of a constructive framework for the Arts and Culture in the kingdom and its representation abroad. In the past 13 years Farsi has curated seminal exhibitions locally, regionally and internationally that contributed to highlighting Saudi Art on the Art world map, some highlights include her work as co-curator for Desert X Al Ula 2020, Co-Artistic Director of Desert X AlUla 2022 and 2024 and the upcoming edition in 2026; the first site-specific Land Art Exhibition to be held in the Middle East, and co-curator of The inaugural edition of Noor Riyadh, a project of Riyadh Art; Light Upon Light; Light Art Since The 1960’s in 2021, as well as Public Program curator of the inaugural edition of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale 2022. Her research addresses environmental and climate issues through projects with the Goethe-Institut, Prince Claus Fund, and Middle East Institute. In January 2023, Paul Pacifico moved to Riyadh, KSA, to take up the post of CEO of the Music Commission within the Ministry of Culture with responsibility for developing the music sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. For six years prior, Paul was CEO of AIM, the Association of Independent Music which represents the UK’s community of music entrepreneurs including independent labels, service companies and self-releasing artists amongst its 1000 members. Before his tenure at AIM, Paul was CEO of the UK’s Featured Artists Coalition (‘FAC’), and founding President of the International Artist Organisation (‘IAO’). For the past 6 years, Paul was Associate Professor at Berklee Valencia, Spain, where he continues to teach as a Guest Lecturer. Karim El Shenawy is a leading Egyptian director acclaimed for his socially conscious storytelling and impact on contemporary Arab cinema. He has directed several widely praised television series, including Qabeel, Khali Balak Men Zizi, El Harsha El Sabaa, and the award-winning Lam Shamseya. Known for bold narratives and emotional depth, his work often tackles complex social issues with nuance and vision. Most recently, he completed Al Sada Al Afadel, a dark comedy soon to be released. Through both film and television, El Shenawy continues to shape modern Arab storytelling with originality and cultural relevance.

Dr. Mohammed Hassan Alwan

Dr. Mohammed Hassan Alwan is a Saudi novelist and author born in Riyadh in 1979. He has published six books to date, and his writing has been very popular with readers throughout the Arab world. His literary works have appeared in many international magazines and newspapers such as the New York Times, The Guardian, Words Without Borders and Banipal magazine. Alwan was a columnist for Al-Watan newspaper between 2007 and 2012. He currently writes for Independent Arabia. In 2010, he was selected as one of the most promising 39 Arab authors under the age of 40 at the Beirut39 festival. In 2013, his novel “Al-Qundus” was nominated to the shortlist of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. In 2015, the French version of “Al-Qundus” won the Arab World Institute Award in Paris as the best Arabic novel translated into French for that year. In 2017, his novel “Mouton Sageer” won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. Alwan worked as a relationship service manager at Samba Financial Group between 2003 and 2006. His main responsibility was being the focal point between corporate local and international customers and the bank. He was also a Board Member and Managing Mirector of Naser M. Alnabit and Sons in Riyadh from 2008 to 2015. He holds a doctorate in marketing and international business management from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Christina Scheppelmann

Christina Scheppelmann was appointed General Director & Artistic Director at La Monnaie in 2023. She was the Artistic Director General at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona from 2015-2019; prior to that, she was the first Director General of the Royal Opera House Muscat (Oman). As Director of Artistic Operations at Washington National Opera, Scheppelmann oversaw the artistic planning for 11 years. She was instrumental in fundraising efforts, leading to grants for individual productions, ongoing projects, and renovations. Her passion for the artform and interest to see it flourish into the future led her to conceive of and secure funding for WNO’s American Opera Initiative, offering young composers and librettists a developmental forum in which to bridge the gap between conservatory training and full-length commissions. A long-time champion of young artists, she has led masterclasses, lectured at artist training programs, and judged vocal competitions around the world. Scheppelmann has been awarded the rank of Commendatore in the Order of the Star of Solidarity by the Italian government for her career-long work promoting opera and Italian culture. She also served as the Vice President for the board of Opera Europa, the professional organization of opera houses and festivals.

H.E. Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa is chairperson of the Governing Board of Arab Regional Center for World Heritage. She previously served as President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities from 2014 to 2022 and Minister of Culture from 2010 to 2014, Minister of Culture and Information from 2008 to 2010, and Assistant Undersecretary for Culture and National Heritage at the Ministry of Information. Sheikha Mai is the founder of the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, and President of its Board of Trustees. An NGO that was established in Muharraq in 2002, the Centre has since hosted over 500 speakers, philosophers, poets and thinkers, who have presented their thoughts in the weekly lecture programme. It has conserved and rehabilitated over 25 traditional Bahraini houses and spearheaded the urban regeneration of the historic city of Muharraq. Under Sheikha Mai’s patronage and leadership the Revitalization of Murrraq received the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture. She was listed as One of the 50 Most Influential Women in the Arab World by Forbes magazine in 2008. She was awarded the Watch Award by the World Monument Fund in 2015 – the first Arab personality to receive the award – in recognition of the singular role she has played in the preservation and protection of culture and heritage in Bahrain. In 2017 she was made Special Ambassador of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

H.R.H. Ambassador Reema Bandar Al-Saud

H.R.H. Ambassador Reema Bandar Al-Saud has served as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States since February 2019, appointed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. She was the first woman to serve in the role in the Kingdom’s history. H.R.H. has championed initiatives that promote social inclusion and women’s advancement, and youth engagement. In public service, she served as Vice President for Women’s Affairs at the Saudi General Sports Authority and later became President of the Mass Participation Federation, where she was the first woman to lead a multi-sport federation in Saudi Arabia. She currently serves as President of the Women’s Committee and sits on the board of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee. H.R.H. is head of the Fashion Commission at the Ministry of Culture. Internationally, she is a member of the International Olympic Committee, the IMF Advisory Entrepreneurship and Advisory Council, and the board of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute. Shivani is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and on the Membership Board of Directors of the Golden Globes. H.E. Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez, is the Vice Minister of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was appointed by royal decree on 27 July 2018. In May 2021, H.E. was awarded with the King Abdulaziz First Degree Order of Merit. In his role as Vice Minister, his responsibilities include contributing to strategy and operations, supporting the Ministry in its mission to enrich lives across the Kingdom, and achieve the objectives of Vision 2030. H.E. Mr. Hamed Fayez serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee overseeing Saudi Arabia’s participation in the International Expo and as Vice Chairman of the board of the 11 Cultural Commissions. He is an active member of numerous committees and programs for Vision 2030, including the Quality of Life Program, the Pilgrim Experience Program, and the Human Capability Development Program. H.E. Mr. Fayez is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at institutions such as the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and the Royal Institute for Traditional Arts, and serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for organizations including Saudi Artisanal Company, AlBalad Development Company, and Boutique Group Company.
